Full interview: Lavinia Dragne, a mentor in SIM’s community

Psychologist, Consultant, Human Resources Specialist, Recruitment.

💃 Who is Lavinia Dragne, and what does she do?

Because, as Albert Einstein said, "Life is like riding a bike. To keep your balance, you have to keep moving forward," in recent years, I've put all my passion and curiosity into helping myself and helping them. The people I work with, to move forward.

As a psychologist, trainer, and human resources specialist, I feel the greatest joy to facilitate the opening of perspective. People discover and access their resources and, with courage, become active in building or rebuilding the life they want it.

After graduating from college, I attended a complimentary training program in Experiential and Unification Psychotherapy (P.E.U.) focused on adult-child - couple - family at the Bucharest S.P.E.R Institute.

I am accredited to use D.I.S.C. and Belbin Team Roles, and the experience in the field of human resources is about 15 years in the pharmaceutical and food industry.

💃 When did you realize what you wanted to do?

Working with people has always been my desire. Passions are born from childhood, right?

Maybe my number one quality is that I like to listen more than talk. Over time, I have learned techniques of active listening and understanding of the difficulties that the man in front of me has, without judging him, and working with people has helped to establish these skills. It's an asset that helps me in my job.

I want to emphasize here that the psychologist is not the healer. The psychologist creates an alliance with the person in front of her/him and, together with the person, she/he finds solutions and motivates for change.

💃 How did the arrival of your children impact you professionally?

The arrival of children in our lives did not influence my professional activity, and rather they recreated me. They gave me another value. Through the continuous introspection I was doing, the answers I was looking for in such a way as to become better for my children, to understand them more easily. What I have discovered over time is that you are never satisfied that you have found all the solutions. I'm still looking for some answers ... :)

💃 What does work-life balance mean to you?

Be good to yourself! Wherever you are, make conscious choices following who you are, your needs, aspirations, and qualities at home and in the office. Balance comes automatically only if you are okay with yourself.

💃What does it mean for you to be a mentor?

What motivates me the most is to accompany my clients on their path to healing in an authentic and empathetic manner. The purpose in life and the motivation to reach that goal is so hidden that, most of the time, you need "someone else" to guide you to bring them to the surface.

It is a thank you and a goal for me to know that I can lead to an inner transformation.

💃 If you were to leave readers with a message, what would it be?

I would like to convey that I would like to be more aware of who we are, what our needs are, to be more present HERE and NOW and more friends with the passing of time, and we know that it is irreversible. It is in our power to make changes when we are not well, and LET'S ACT NOW without waiting to accumulate so much pain. Let's be OK with ourselves! :)
